Intricate designs, inspired by the cultural heritage of the V&A Museum
This two-piece cup and saucer set takes inspiration from each of the three Refreshment Rooms to create a stunning piece, fit to grace any teatime. The intricate arabesques of the Morris Room adorn the mug, while the saucer features a border of arabesques and repeating hexagons.
Both pieces are elegantly finished in Dutch blue - a homage to the Poynter Room - while their fine china construction is inspired by the Gamble Room - described as an expanse of colourful ceramic and glass.
The Cole Collection draws from the decorative detail of the world's first museum café, opened at the V&A in 1856. The collection is named after the museum's founding director, Sir Henry Cole, who introduced the idea of creating captivating dining rooms to enjoy on a trip to this extraordinary museum.
With this coffee cup and saucer set you can enjoy a restoring brew, and marvel at the V&A's fine art and design work. It would make for a luxurious gift, for any admirer of art and design.
